SFPE (Society of Fire Protection Engineers) is an international community of fire protection engineers and other individuals interested in advancing the science and practice of fire protection engineering. The Southern Nevada Chapter serves the local community to support and foster Fire Protection Engineering here in local community. Southern Nevada offers a unique environment for Fire Protection Engineering. Please help us by supporting our industry and chapter.

Our Chapter recently sponsored a golf tournament with proceeds going towards our educational grants. This was the first of what we hope to have of many annual torunaments. We would like to thank of of our sponsors and those who participated in the tournament that helped us succedd in meeting our goals. Thanks to all who helped organize and support this tournament. Our Chapter meets the 1st Thursday of every month, except for January and July. This coming year we will be meeting at Sierra Gold at 6515 S. Jones Road. Their banquet facilities are upstairs. Please be sure to RSVP to the meeting announcements to make sure we have room for you.

Our monthly meetings include time to meet and socialize with our chapter members and guests as well as listen to a variety of presentations on Fire Protection during lunch. Our meetings usually start just before noon and last about an hour and a half. The cost for lunch is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.

Please RSVP no later than Monday the week of the meeting. This will allow us to make sure we have enough meals for everyone that wants to attend.

Please note that we have to absorb the cost of lunch for all RSVP no shows. This results in the Chapter spending money for lunches that were never consumed. If you RSVP and cannot make it, please cancel by no later than 5pm on the Monday before the Chapter meeting. If you RSVP and do not cancel we will send you an invoice for the lunch that the rest of the Chapter has to pay for. We know you will understand the need to recoup our losses.

The Southern Nevada Chapter was formed with the voting in of an interim board on Wednesday October 25, 2000 at 12:00 noon at the Las Vegas Fire Department's Emergency Operations Center. The first chapter meeting was held on December 7th 2000. The chapter was officially recognized on August 21, 2001 via an email from Kathleen H. Almand, P.E. (Director SFPE) to Allyn Vaughn, P.E. (SNSFPE Past President 2000-2002).

At the SNSFPE December 6th 2001 meeting Kathleen Almand visited the chapter to welcome us as the 50th chapter.
